Design by Thula Sindi. Photo: Africa Fashion InternationalAfrica Fashion Week is set to take place this week. The event from 30th June to 3rd July 2010 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The event will feature 30 designers from Mozambique, French Commodores, Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, Somalia, Tunisia, Uganda, South Africa, United States and the UK.

Some of the designers due to show trans seasonal collections include South Africa’s Kluk CGDT, Abigail Betz, Marianne Fassier,Stoned Cherrie, David Tlale, Boudoir D’Huitres by Mimi Plange who is a designer of Ghanaian descent based in California, Nigeria’s Deola Sagoe, Bunmi Koko, Ituen Basi, Uganda’s Gloria Wavamunno, Mataano by Somalian twin sisters Ayaan and Idyl Mohallim etc.

Ama K. Abebrese. Photo: Ebenezer AnangfioAma K. Abebrese was spotted looking fabulous at the recent Ghana Music Awards 2010. The Actress, TV Presenter and producer stood out in a bespoke K’NAF couture dress.

The one off K’NAF design by fashion designer Kayda Nana Afriyie Frimpong employs a vintage archive print as picked out by Abebrese herself.

The mix of the retro print, the bust cut-out feature and the voluminous structural sleeves works.

Top British fashion designer Alexander McQueen, who dressed stars from Sarah Jessica Parker to Rihanna to Nicole Kidman in bold shapes and colors, was found dead in his home here Thursday, a spokesman for his company said.

Though his reputation for controversy earned him the titles "enfant terrible" and "the hooligan of English fashion," British Vogue Editor Alexandra Shulman said his work "influenced a whole generation of designers.
