Real estate company moves to avert congestion in Takoradi

Photo: wikimedia.org In a move to avert the expected congestion on residential and commercial facilities in Sekondi Takoradi ahead of the production of oil this year, Axis Park Ghana Limited has initiated the development of a 140-acre industrial, commercial and residential estate in Takoradi.

The Chief Executive of Axis Ventures, Mr. Kofi Tawiah, says the facility is to serve as an enclave for the companies that will be operating in the emerging oil industry.

Five in court for farming in Forest Reserve

Atewa Range Forest Reserve. Photo: Max Milligan/Nubuke Foundation Five people have appeared before the Bibiani Circuit Court for farming in the Tano Suraw Forest Reserve at Aboduabo in the Western Region.

It is an offence under the Forest Protection Decree 1974 (NRC 243) and Forest Amendment Act, 2002, (Act 624) to farm in a reserve without the permission of the Forestry Commission. Isaac Obeng Kran, Yaw Dua, Yaw Asante, Kwasi Mpae and Kwadwo Konadu pleaded not guilty and were each admitted to GH¢6,000 bail to re-appear on Friday, January 22.

Work on oil starts

Technical installations have started on the Jubilee Oilfields at Cape Three Points to pave the way for the commercial production of oil and gas by the last quarter of this year.

Consequently, a vessel – Happy River – arrived in the country last week and is expected to build sub-sea structures for the installation of a billion-dollar Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.
