A storm that began as a whirl wind on Thursday swept through the Zongo section of Wa destroying properties worth millions of Ghana cedis.

The freaky storm that lasted for about five minutes ripped off the roofs of five compound houses, a mosque, electricity poles and cables.

The Lawra District in the Upper West Region will by September this year get two health training schools to enable it train more health personnel. The training schools will be Midwifery Training Centre and Health Assistants Training School (HATS) at Nandom and Lawra hospitals respectively.

Fulani with grazing cattle. Photo: iita.orgThe South Sissala Tertiary Youth Association, has called for the expulsion of Fulani herdsmen in the area who they blamed for degrading the land with their cattle.

In a resolution passed at the end of a meeting at Funsi in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region, they called on the chiefs in the area to champion the campaign to get the herdsmen out.
