Three persons are confirmed dead at Temaa in the Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District, in a renewed chieftaincy conflict on Sunday. The conflict was between two Konkomba rival clans - the Binyami clan of Biarug and Biyambo clan of Temaa.

The dead were Mumuni Sayibu, 20, Adams Sayibu, 19, and Yenbi Blatam, 25.

Veterans Day, a day set aside for the gallant soldiers who lost their lives at the Christianborg Castle Crossroads incident in Accra on 28th February, 1948, was marked in Tamale by some students and ex-servicemen.

Students of the Tamale Senior High, Ghana Senior High, Islamic Senior High, Vittin Senior/Tech High and Dabokpaa Senior/Tech High, beautifully paraded and dramatized the incident that led to the loss of lives of the three veteran soldiers sending tears rolling on some faces.

The Northern Regional Police Command has urged the "Azoka Boys" to help the police to maintain peace and order in the region especially during the celebration of this year's Damba festival which climaxes at the weekend.

Assistance Commissioner of Police (ACP) Angwunbutoge Awuni, Northern Regional Police Commander said partnering the "Azoka Boys" was a major step at nipping any trouble in the region in the bud.

The Acting Northern Regional Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) Mr. Alhassan Seidu has expressed concern about the increasing rate of forced marriages in the Eastern Corridor of the region.

He said last month, two of such cases were recorded at Bimbilla and one each at Yendi, Saboba and Zabzugu.

The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly says it created about 3,300 jobs in 2009 under its infrastructural development project.

These jobs according to Alhaji Abudulai Haruna Friday, the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) occurred in Metro Works Unit, Metro Roads Unit, Metro Transport Unit, Sanitation (Zoomlion) and Support for Agriculture programme.
