The Central Regional Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa-Doe has donated items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to six health institutions in the region to mark her birthday.

The items which included detergents, soap, plastic buckets, bags of rice, student-size mattresses, mats, bed sheets and pillow cases went to Winneba Hospital, Swedru Government Hospital, and Assin Fosu St. Francis Xavier Catholic Hospital.

In furtherance of its commitment to promote education, Zain Ghana has donated educational materials to the Suprudo Methodist School in the Mfantseman Districts of the Central Region.

The school, made up of a kindergarten, primary and Junior High School with a total student population of 550, was presented with reading materials, exercise books, school bags, drawing sets and lap desks.

A pressure group based in the Central Region, Concerned Peoples' Forum, has expressed regret that the hopes of fishermen that premix fuel would be better managed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration and therefore massively voted it into power had turned out to be a mirage.

At a press conference to outline concerns raised by fishermen on the administration of the fuel in fishing communities, Mr. Isaac Newton Dick, the spokesperson of the group, said fishermen are now worse off than before because they are allegedly being cheated by some committee members at the landing beaches.

Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister. Photo: myjoyonline.comMrs. Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister, on Friday inaugurated the Cape Coast Development Company (CCDC) and swore its 12-member Board of Directors into office to spearhead the socio-economic development of the metropolis.

The company, which is fully owned by the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA), is the brainchild of its mayor, Mr. Anthony Egyir Aikins, and has Mr. Joseph Winful, senior partner of KPMG, an international accounting firm, as the board chairman.

Mr. Anthony Egyir Aikins, Metropolitan Chief Executive, who announced this at a press briefing in Cape Coast on Monday, said such an event that would commence this year, would enable the public to contribute to the development of the metropolis.
