A 57-year-old trader is being held by police in Kumasi for allegedly defrauding at least 24 persons to the tune of GH¢95,000 under the guise of securing travel documents for them.

Kingsley Ntiamoah is alleged to have collected between GH¢5,600 and GH¢12,000 from each of his victims with the promise to acquire for them Canadian working visas.

According to Asantehene, he had been made aware that Nana Sarfo Agyekum II, who is the Aduanahene of Kumawu, was deeply involved in the activities of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Kumawu, and said he would not tolerate such behaviour in his domain.

The 4th Republican Constitution prevents chiefs from engaging in active party politics.

Some former students of the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) say they have not been presented with their certificates since they completed the institute 10 years ago.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, one of the affected students, Kyei Mensah Yamoah, said he had pursued a four-year part-time and a year's full-time course in Welding and Fabrication when he gained admission to the institute in 1996.

The Kumasi Children's Park is to be redeveloped to host an ultra modern shopping mall among other amenities under the Millennium Cities Initiative (MCI) project, Mr. Samuel Sarpong, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) has said.

A Palm Oil project, production of Bamboo bicycles developed by the Earth Institute at Columbia University and the building and running of a hostel at the University of Education of Winneba, Kumasi Campus, are also to be undertaken under the MCI.

Right Rev Frimpong-Manso, Moderator - Presby Church. Photo: GhanammaRight Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has decried the growing immorality among students and said, this is affecting academic performance.

He said the rate at which they are taking to alcohol, involving in occultism and pre-marital sex should give cause for worry. Rt Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso, who was launching the 60th anniversary celebration of the T.I Ahmadiyya Senior High School (SHS) in Kumasi, said the students need to be assisted to shun irresponsible conduct and lead disciplined lives.
