A floating tanker vessel to collect and process crude oil from the Jubilee fields is expected to arrive in the country by May this year.

The tanker termed the floating, production, storage and offloading vessel or FPSO is 93 percent complete and will be commissioned in a few weeks by the Vice President in Singapore before it sets sail for Ghana.

A nationwide exercise to check the sale of adulterated fuel and clamp down on fuel stations that have tampered with their fuel pumps begins in Accra Friday.

The exercise, which is being spearheaded by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), follows complaints about poor service delivery and the sale by service stations of premix fuel as petrol to customers.

The President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, Wednesday said his administration acknowledges the contributions of previous regimes towards the material development and social improvement in the living standards of the people.

He explained that the current administration, in the same vein, expected future governments to also recognise its role towards the revamping of the economy and improvement in the quality of life of the broad masses of the people during its tenure of office.

The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), on Tuesday assured the public that it was working hard to repair a leakage that was detected on its sixth Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) pipeline, leading to the suspension of the discharge of the product over the weekend.

It said personnel of the refinery were currently working around the clock to quickly restore the pipeline for discharge and onward distribution of LPG to the market.

President John Evans Atta Mills has reiterated his government's commitment to invest oil inflows from the giant Jubilee field production in critical infrastructure projects, to propel national development for the benefit of all.

He has therefore called for the co-operation of the media, as a key ally, for the successful implementation of projects and programmes envisioned for the emerging oil industry.
