Kojo Tsikata also rejects award
A Former national security adviser under the NDC, (Rtd) Captain Kojo Tsikata has rejected a national award due to be conferred on him next month.
He is one of six former government officials under the NDC regime listed to receive the awards in the category of Order of the Volta Companion.
But Captain Tsikata in a statement says he cannot fathom the rationale for his inclusion in the list.
He says he will not accept any honours from president Kufuor and his cronies whom he claims are blatantly and cynically engaged in the manipulation of the judicial system.
Captain Tsikata’s decline follows an earlier one by an Aide to former president Rawlings, Kofi Adams who told Joy FM that Mr. Rawlings will not receive the award.
According to Mr. Adams, former President Rawlings is disappointed that the killers of the former King of Dagbon Ya Na Yakubu Andani and the Northern Regional CPP Chairman Alhaji Issah Mobila have not been brought to book.
He accused the government of halting a decision by the University for Development Studies to honour the former president last year.
The Aide to the former president wondered what informed the government’s decision to honour Mr. Rawlings now.
“This is hypocritical and these are things that Jerry John Rawlings does not want to add to his credentials” he said.
