Internet service to Senior High Schools on course

Government’s policy to provide Internet services to all Senior High Schools and enable students acquire skills in Information Communication Technology (ICT) is said to be on course.

Mr Joseph Yaw Frimpong, Central Regional Customer Care Manager of the Ghana Telecom (GT), who announced this on Thursday at Agona Swedro said, to ensure the full implementation of the policy, Ghana Telecom Company Limited has designed special packages for the schools that would enable each student benefit fully.

Mr Frimpong said this when he launched the company’s non-stop online services, “Broadband4U” Internet at Agona Swedro.

He said GT has reduced the cost of the Broadband Internet service from GH¢220 to GH¢85 for the institutions in order to help increase patronize of the facility.

He said the package would help teachers and students to conduct research on their campus instead of going outside adding that, it would also help office managers to do business with other partners without hindrance.

Mr Frimpong urged heads of institutions and organizations to patronize the broadband internet facility in order for the students to be abreast with global world and improve their knowledge.

Mr Joseph TinaAgyei-Gyimah, Central Regional Manager of GT, expressed concern about the persistent stealing of cables of the company by unscrupulous persons and appealed to the public to help apprehend the saboteurs.

He said the company was spending huge sums of money to replace the lost cables and said the company has reward for people who would assist to track down such perpetrators.

Mr TinaAgyei-Gyimah said the product has been designed for small offices or individual users with heavy upload and download requirements for graphic applications such as pictures, videos and others.

Mr Emmanuel Baiden, Swedru/Winneba Area Manager of GT, said a total of 28 customers at Agona Swedru had been connected with broadband internet facility and hoped that, the number would increase due to the quality and reliable services.

He noted that, the facility would soon be extended to Winneba to enable schools and business men and women to feel the speed of Broadband.
