NPP presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo to visit USA and Canada
From May 29th to June 9th, the 2008 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ghana’s ruling political Party, will make a historic visit to five North American cities—Toronto, New York, Washington, D.C, Chicago and Los Angeles.
This will be Hon. Nana Akufo-Addo’s first tour of North America since he secured the Party’s nomination as its Flag Bearer on December 23, 2007 at the NPP Congress in Accra.
As a founding member of the NPP, his slogan for the Party’s primary “Ye nim wo firi tete” (We have known you for a very long time) struck a cord with the voting delegates.
In addition to serving for eleven years as a Member of Ghana’s Parliament, Hon. Nana Akufo-Addo also served under Ghana’s current government for two years as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and for four years as the Foreign Affairs Minister.
He has played many leadership roles on the international stage; most recently as the Chairperson of the United Nations Security Council and Chairman of the Executive Council of the African Union.
Mr Kofi A. Boateng, the Chairman of NPP-USA describes the purpose of Hon. Nana Akufo-Addo’s trip as “ This is a golden moment for us to achieve two goals – expose the 2008 NPP Presidential Candidate to as many Ghanaians as possible who will in turn influence votes for NPP in Ghana; and raise the profile of NPP in the USA and Canada with regards to our ability to assist massively in all respects in the 2008 elections to ensure a resounding victory for NPP led by Nana Akufo- Addo”.
Each of the cities Hon. Nana Akufo-Addo is scheduled to visit boasts a large population of Ghanaians. In response to the high level of excitement and anticipation, numerous public activities have been scheduled which will enable Ghanaians to meet and interact with the 2008 NPP Presidential Candidate.
