NDC is bitter says Nana
Loading ...Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as an old bitter wine in a new bottle.
He pointed out that since Ghanaians know what NDC stands for, it will be suicidal to vote the party into power in the December elections.
According to him, the bitter traits of the NDC, for which the good people of Ghana rejected them eight years ago, still persists, and therefore there is no reason to entrust the destiny of the country into their hands.
Speaking to a filled auditorium of members of the Takoradi Polytechnic Branch of Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) of NPP on Thursday, Nana Akufo-Addo reminded Ghanaians that it will be dangerous to go back to the days of authoritarianism and identification hair-cuts.
“Don’t pour old wine into new bottle, because the old wine, which Ghanaians rejected in the 2000 general elections, still tastes bitter and must be rejected outright,” he said.
Nana Addo noted that Ghana is now a nation of freedom and prosperity, adding that President Kufuor had led the best government in the nation’s history by laying a very firm foundation for the economy.
He therefore urged the electorate not to allow those he describes as determined to draw back the clock of progress, to see power in the December polls.
“We of the NPP have started building a modern, industrial, progressive and better Ghana. All of us must prepare for new skills, expertise and confidence to work in the new Ghana.”
He advised the students to study hard and play their roles well for the party to clinch an overwhelming victory in the coming general elections so that Ghana could be ushered into a realm where poverty would be a thing of the past.
The NPP leader explained that a vote for the NPP would mean a vote for ‘Development in Freedom’, and pledged to build upon the enviable legacy of President Kufuor to make Ghana a better place to live in.
The ruling party’s presidential candidate said the discovery of oil in the era of the Kufuor-led government is not by chance but through proper planning.
His claim was greeted with shouts of “Naa Nana, Naa Shuo” and “Our Next Leader” by the visibly elated students.
He said the coming elections is about the future of Ghana, and opined that since the future is for the youth, young people should be discerning and vote based upon the good works of the ruling government.
Hon. Joe Baidoo-Ansah, Member of Parliament for Effia-Kwesimintsim, disclosed that the over 1,000-seater capacity auditorium at the Takoradi Polytechnic and modern hostels at Butumeagyebu, near Sekondi are physical evidences of what the NPP has done for them.
Later in an interview with some TESCON members, the students hinted that they will do everything in their power to bring into the party fold, more floating voters.
