Egypt midfielder Hosni Abd Rabou was named the Player of the Tournament at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations after helping his side to their record sixth title in Accra on Sunday night.
The 23-year-old notched up four goals in the African showpiece and fell just one short of top goal-scorer Samuel Eto’o. However, there was no place for the Barcelona marksman in CAF’s XI.
Mohamed Aboutraika was awarded the Man of the Match as he was the only man to get on the score-sheet in the final with a second half strike to secure a 1-0 win for The Pharaohs.
In the Best XI named by the Confederation of African Football, Abd Rabou and Aboutrika were joined by three team-mates in the starting line-up with another two on the bench.
Ghana and Cameroon each had two in the team, while Angola’s Manucho relegated Didier Drogba to the substitutes list.
